Assignment 2 - Due April 22 - What's so special about THIS book?

Identify one or two things that make this book unique. Find examples from the text to illustrate what you mean.

I like this book so much so far because it is so different from any other book i have ever read. This book has drama but it is so scandelous because it was happening in the 1500's and is true! There is backstabbing and lying and stealing of men. It has everything that a teenage girl would want to read about. And i really like that it takes place in a time period that really makes you sit back and think hard about it. in order to compare and relate to the story you have to kind of look past the text, and i like that. The drama is so facinating..." No matter what Mary wants, if th Kings taste is for Mary and she has his acknoledged son then my family becomes the first kingdom. Without rival. And we can do it. We can manage as king." This easy to relate to being a girl..."I would not speak to Anne that night although she marched me in silence from the queens room to our own room and expected a full account of what had been said and done. But after what she had done, no one in her own family wanted anything to do with her, so they send her away!! To me it's so sad. If there was reality T.V. back then I would hope that the Boleyn's would have their very own show. The scandal and the secrets are just so captivating that you can't help but want to keep reading to see what happens.

Assignment 3 - Due May 13 - What's it really about?

Identify a possible theme or big idea in the novel and find three examples from the text.

I think that the big idea of the story is don't believe what you know isn't true. Mary knew that the king loved her, yes. But the King was being unfaithful to his wife and country at the time, and Mary was aware that King Henry was not exactly the most wonderful person to be having an affair with. Yet she fell for his charm, with this she forever lost the marriage that was great. She was also granted a bastard child with a King when she was not his Queen. Mary was forced to be sent away to hide a mistake that King Henry begun. Anne was aware of what was going to happen to her young sister but she was willing to sacrafice her sister for her own well being. Mary was left with a husband who could never look at her unfaithful self again. She was forced to leave the man she loved and her entire family, to hide a mistake that King Henry forced upon her.

Assignment 3- Due May 19- overall experience

OVerall this book was really good!! I loved it! It kept me on the edge of my seat and I was always guessing. I love that they are true events. It reallly makes you think about what went on outside of what the author caught. It comes to show that looks can be desciving and anyone can lie. And family needs to stick together. Or you may just end up with your head cut off.
